Spring is right around the corner despite the ice on the ground here now. That means it’s time to get cleaning. This year try some homemade cleaners for spring cleaning. You can get your house clean without the harsh chemicals. I’ve rounded up my best recipes to help you get started before the first flower blooms.

Get Cleaning
After Christmas is over, I’m ready to scrub the house from top to bottom. I’m less of a spring cleaner and more of a winter cleaner. By the time spring hits, I’m ready to get out in the garden. Something about taking all of the Christmas decor down leaves the house feeling empty and bare. Which is perfect for dusting all of the furniture and deep cleaning the whole house.

Homemade Cleaners for Spring Cleaning the Bathroom
Toilet Cleaning Bombs
I’ve got a thing for cleaning pods, as I am sure you will discover. It’s something about the drop and go that makes it worth making them. These toilet cleaning bombs are so easy to use. I drop one in the toilet bowl as soon as it’s time to clean the bathroom. By the time I’m done with the sink, the toilet is ready to scrub.
Hard Water Deposits
Hard water is the bane of my existence. Removing hard water deposits is a must do spring cleaning task at our house. Grab the vinegar and get descaling.
Daily Shower Spray
I do not like cleaning the shower. It is a lot of work to get it clean and nobody ever sees it anyway. To get as much time between cleanings, I use this daily shower spray. A good spray every evening means that it only needs to be scrubbed down once a month or so.

Homemade Cleaners for Spring Cleaning Kitchen
Dishwasher Pods
Is doing the dishes really spring cleaning? I don’t know, but I’m going to add these dishwasher pods to the list of homemade cleaners for spring cleaning anyways. You can actually wash so much more than dishes in the dishwasher. As a preschool teacher, I’ve washed scissors, Legos, and toy food in there as well.
Deep Cleaning Kitchen Appliances
I am guilty of cleaning the main places, but forgetting things like the inside of the oven. Go ahead and grab the baking soda and vinegar, you’re going to need it for the places you are going to clean.
Homemade Cleaners for Spring Cleaning Living Room
Leather Cleaner & Conditioner
Have you vacuumed between the couch cushions lately? Start with that and then do your couch a favor and spray it down with some leather cleaner and conditioner. Rub it down really well and you will practically have a new couch when you are done.
Wood Polish
A light dusting is great, but sometimes your furniture needs a bit more love. Try this homemade Old English wood polish. It will clean and condition your wood. We love the way it makes our homemade furniture look.
Dusting Spray
Say it with me, “Top to bottom.” You are going to start with the ceiling fan and dust your way down. Use some homemade dusting spray to help get things really clean. This is one of my favorite homemade cleaners for spring cleaning because I can use it on everything from the fan to the baseboards.

Homemade Cleaners for Spring Cleaning Laundry
Laundry Pods
While laundry pods may not be one of the traditional homemade cleaners for spring cleaning, they are much needed. You will need them to wash the curtains, mattress cover, coats, shower curtain, and throw blankets. The goal of spring cleaning is to clean every surface in the home. If you have kids, don’t forget the stuffed animals and dress up clothes.
Scent Booster
I know that scent booster isn’t really a cleaner, but it sure helps things smell nice. And let’s be honest, that’s half the goal when cleaning anyways. Toss some in with each load to make your house smell as clean as it looks.
Stain Remover
Living in the country means you will get stains. Be prepared with some stain removal tricks up your sleeve. Whether it be grass or grease, be prepared to get it out before tossing it in the wash.
Homemade Cleaners for Spring Cleaning Everything Else
Lemon Vinegar
When it comes to cleaning, nothing beats a good lemon vinegar. Use your leftover lemon peels to make up some multipurpose cleaning spray. It doesn’t get much more frugal than that.
Cleaning a Diffuser
Although we constantly fill them up with water, we rarely think about cleaning them. Go ahead and clean those diffusers before refilling with your favorite spring blend.
Window Cleaner
Cleaning the windows is an annual chore around here. I spend a day washing both inside and out. I use my homemade window cleaner and some newspaper to get things clean. It sounds crazy, but it truly is the trick to clean, streak-free windows.
Car Wipes
We all know how dirty the inside of the car can get during winter. It’s too cold to go out and give it the clean that it really needs, so we put it off until spring. Now it’s time to get out there with some car wipes and clean up all of those spills, crumbs, and get-it-laters.
Linen Spray
Use a linen spray on those things you can’t wash, like the upholstery on your favorite chair or the throw pillows on the couch. A bit of alcohol and essential oils will keep things smelling fresh.

Tina Puth says
I am also a winter cleaner instead of spring cleaning. One thing I always do is get professional upholstery cleaning done every winter. It helps make the house feel so much cleaner. I can’t wait to try the homemade cleaners for other parts of the house.
