In With the Good
A couple years ago, I started to question the ingredients in everything. It started with body products, then cleaners, and now food. So consider this a warning, once you start you can’t stop.
Ok, now that you’re ready to take a step down this slippery slope let’s talk about my decision to take the first step. It all started with reading the back of the shampoo bottle. I discovered lots of ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. After some Google searches, I found out that most of them were really bad for you. The spark of curiosity caught hold and there was no turning back. I have always been one to question things and research them until I am blue in the face. When I find a problem, I must also find a solution. Pretty soon I was buying essential oils and castile soaps. When I ran out of my normal products, I would replace them with all-natural products that I made myself.

After that, there was no stopping me. I made my husband crazy reading all the labels. I replaced the toilet bowl cleaner, dusting spray, mouthwash, lotion, and bug spray. When I bought anything at the store, I would stand there reading the labels for twenty minutes before making a decision. He was patient, but sometimes I thought he wanted to throw something in the cart and move on.
Some of the changes were more difficult than others, but they eventually became the new normal. For example, castile soap makes my skin feel weird. At first it really bothered me, but now I barely notice. Another example was the smell of clean laundry. I love the smell of clean laundry, so I found an essential oil blend to use on the wool dryer balls to replace that smell. I still have a few things left to replace, but over time I’ve slowly learned how to clean without toxic chemicals.

About the DIY Leather Cleaner and Conditioner
When it comes to natural cleaners, vinegar is almost always somewhere on the list. Vinegar will help to get the leather nice and clean.
The olive oil will act as a conditioner and help to keep your leather soft.
The orange essential oil will help to clean the couch. Citric oils make great cleaners. If you prefer lemon, that will also work. Either oil will help to get any body oils off the leather. Plus they make it smell good and clean.

Using the DIY Leather Cleaner and Conditioner
Spray a bit of this DIY leather cleaner and conditioner on the couch. Use a microfiber cloth to rub it clean. Make sure to get in the cracks and seams. I typically spray the arm rests twice because they seem to get the most dirty.

Hello!
Thanks so much for posting this! I can’t wait to use it on our family sectional. How long is a good amount of time before the couch is safe to use? I would just like to set enough time aside before we use it and not have stains on our clothes.

I’ve never really thought about. I just make sure to wipe it down really well with a dry cloth if I know we are going to use it immediately. Kind of like waxing a car.

How often do you clean your couch?
morgansfarmhouse says
I am lucky to get it done once a month, which is my goal. Most often it only gets cleaned when company is coming.
Would grapeseed oil work? I quit using olive oil…. says
Would

I have not used it, but it should work. Just be sure to test a small area first as it may darken the leather.
