Creating a Homegrown and Homemade Life

Homemade Gift Ideas

November 2, 2022 by morgansfarmhouse Leave a Comment

The holidays are right around the corner. That means it is officially time to start planning for the holiday season. I’ve rounded up a list of homemade gift ideas for everybody on your list this year. Some are perfect for under the tree and others are small enough to fit in a stocking. Start creating now, so you can relax by the yule log later!

‘Tis the Season

I love everything about the holidays. The movies, the food, the crafts, the jammies. With lots of extended family, gift giving can get expensive and impersonal. One of my favorite things to do is make homemade gifts for all of those on my list that I just don’t know what to do for.

These homemade gifts can be as expensive or inexpensive as you need them to be. By combining several ideas you can create a beautiful holiday gift basket. A single item lets them know you are thinking of them without breaking the bank. I keep a few on hand for those unexpected instances when you need a quick gift.

Homemade Gift Ideas for Kids

Boo Boo Buddies

These little critters make the perfect gift for little kids. They can be kept in the freezer to use as an ice pack for the many bumps and bruises of childhood or microwaved to snuggle with on a cold night. With 10 FREE animal templates to choose from there’s something for everybody.

Older kids and teens might appreciate one made with a fabric that has their favorite football team on it or just their favorite color. These are so quick to make up and easily customized for the recipient.

Rag Doll

This adorable old fashioned doll is perfect for the little girls on your list. Whether she is a Little House fan or just needing a quiet doll for church your little one will be thrilled to have a new baby to rock.

Flannel Blanket

A homemade flannel blanket is sure to be enjoyed all winter. It beats one of those $5 fleece blankets that everybody gives each year. Once again the colors and pattern can be picked out to suit the preferences of the child. Since coats can’t be worn in car seats they are the perfect gift for little kids to keep in the car for those early morning rides to school.

DIY Chapstick

Although you may assume this idea is for little girls and teens, let me tell you that the boys need it too. For the little girls, you can add a bit of cosmetic glitter to make it sparkly. Teen girls will appreciate “grown up” flavors and a bit of mica powder to tint it. For the boys stick to unscented ones with manly labels on the outside. Just a tip, duct tape fits perfectly around the tube and comes in all colors. Hello camo chapstick!

Fizzing Bath Salts

What kid doesn’t appreciate a warm bath? Give them some fizzing bath salts to make tub time more fun. They will fizz and smell nice. Make sure the oils you add are safe for the age of the child you intend to give it to.

Homemade Gift Ideas for Men

Peanut Brittle

We know the way to any man’s heart is through his stomach. So how about some homemade peanut brittle. This is so popular with my family, it is requested every year. Grandpa ate the entire tin in his recliner and then fell asleep. He woke up stuck to the seat because of the crumbs.

Banana Bread

Banana bread can be made up in advance and frozen. You can usually find holiday mini loaf pans this time of year. Bake it in one of the pretty pans and then put it in a plastic holiday treat bag. Tie it closed with a ribbon and you’ve got a delicious gift. When frozen, it travels well.

Interior Car Wipes

This is one of my favorite gifts for teen drivers and men. Funny how they don’t see the sink of dirty dishes, but notice every speck of dirt in their truck. These wipes are reusable and toxin free. Plus, if you put them in a mason jar, they will fit in a cup holder.

Office Supply Toolbox

I don’t know about the men in your life, but the ones in mine lack any sort of organization. This office supply toolbox can be given as a way to organize what they currently have or you can fill it up  with new supplies. The colors can be their favorite tractor brand, football team, or something that matches their office.

Working Hands Lotion Bar

The dry winter air and cold temperatures mean chapped skin and cracked knuckles. A working hands lotion bar isn’t a femine scent and works wonders on dry skin. I gave these as gifts last year and already had requests for more.

Homemade Gift Ideas for Women

Hand Scrub

The women on your list will be thrilled with a homemade hand scrub instead of some toxin filled product from Bath and Body Works. You can make the scent something festive like peppermint with some essential oils.

Whipped Body Butter

Of course after a nice scrub, those hands will need some moisturizing. You can make up a large batch of whipped body butter and put it in mason jars to take care of all of the women at once. Tie some ribbon or twine around the top to make it pretty.

Foot Soak

Pamper those hard working women this year. A foot soak is like a spa day at home. They will be sure to appreciate the pampering. If you feel really giving, offer to take the kids so that they can soak in peace.

Beeswax Bowl Cover

Does the woman on your list love cooking and baking? What about a beeswax bowl cover? These can be given as a standalone gift or as part of a gift basket. They would be seriously adorable with a mixing bowl, whisk, and cookie mix.

Essential Oil Travel Kit

This gift is a bit more on the expensive side. If there is somebody you are trying to encourage to switch to a more natural lifestyle, try gifting them an essential oil travel kit. Add some little recipe cards for diffuser blends and roller bottles and instructions on how to use the kit. Package it together in a cute bag. This could also work for somebody that travels a lot for work or leisure.
