Clean Sheet Night!
I love clean sheet nights. They feel crisp and smell lovely, but I’m not willing to buy enough sheets or do enough laundry to have that feeling every night of the week. This DIY linen spray gives me that clean sheet smell without the work. I just spritz it on about an hour before bed then when I climb in the smell of fresh lavender fills my dreams.
I love my husband, but when he sleeps his head sweats. This means that his pillow always smells musky, even after only one night’s sleep. He is very particular about the scent of the oils that I use. He only likes a handful of them. Lavender is on his list of approved oils. When I make the bed in the morning, I’ll spray his pillow down to get rid of the sweaty man smell it acquired overnight.

Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular essential oils and for good reason. It is good for just about anything and smells amazing! I like to use lavender in this linen spray because it can act as a sedative. Spraying down the pillows and blankets allows me to be surrounded by this sleepy time smell. Lavender has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which helps keep things a bit cleaner between washes. It is used medicinally to help with insomnia and nightmares.
It is not recommended that people with estrogen-dependent cancer use lavender oil.

Using the Linen Spray
I enjoy spritzing the linen spray on my pillow before bed. It gives it a fresh, clean smell. Lavender is also calming and can help you fall asleep. For that reason, it is my favorite to use in the bedroom.
I also use this DIY linen spray when I change the sheets. I strip off the sheets to be washed. Then I spray down the mattress to freshen it up between cleanings. Once the mattress is dry, I put on the sheets, blanket, and quilt. I will use the linen spray on the blanket and quilt between washings as well. I like to put them on the bed, then give them a good spritz. I’ve found that this also helps with static electricity. Before dressing the pillows they also get a little spray. This makes the entire bed smell clean and fresh even between deep cleanings.
When we have company coming, I will use the linen spray on the throw pillows and the blankets on the couch. This freshens things up and makes the house smell nice. If they are staying the night, I will spray the guest bedroom pillows and quilt.
When I was a little girl, my mom always lit a candle if company was coming. This DIY linen spray is my version of a company candle.
If you have little kids this would make a great monster spray. When they are crying about a monster under the bed or in the closet, whip out the monster spray and give the area good spritz. It will comfort them to think that you sprayed the monsters away and the lavender oil will help to calm them down and get to sleep.

I also love ‘clean sheet’ night. Even though I wash and change them weekly they never smell as good as that first night. This spray worked great to freshen my linens between wash days. I sometimes just spray my pillow because the scent helps me relax and sleep. Thank you for sharing!
