I love having a clean shower, but I hate that after a day it is no longer clean. How can something full of soap get so dirty so quickly? This quick and simple daily shower spray gives the shower that just cleaned feeling every time you step in.
I saw a daily shower spray at the store and decided to give it a try. I loved it! The problem was that it was a bit costly, especially when used daily. I started searching for an alternative. After several minutes scrolling Pinterest I had decided that lemon infused vinegar was the way to go. Unfortunately, that didn’t give my shower the same lovely smell as the store bought stuff and it made my shower curtain turn a funny color. Most importantly, it caused my husband to cough and complain every time I sprayed it.
With some more searching I found a recipe that was ok, but needed tweaked. After several experimental sprays, I finally found one that I liked. It made my shower look clean and smell clean. As an added bonus, I no longer heard coughing and complaining when I sprayed. It fit the needs of our home and I haven’t looked back since.

DIY Daily Shower Spray
This shower spray is easy to make, especially with my secret trick. Keep reading to learn the secret.
Ingredients
1/4 Cup Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 Cup Rubbing Alcohol
2 Tablespoons Lemon Castile Soap
2 Tablespoons Jet Dry
10 Drops Tea Tree Oil
Water
Instructions
- First pour the hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol into the bottle.
- Next add the soap and Jet Dry.
- Then add 10 drops of tea tree oil.
- Finish filling the bottle with water.
- Give it a nice shake before spraying down the shower.
Notes
Pour the water in slowly to avoid a bubbly mess.
Any dish soap will work. I prefer lemon Castile soap because it seems to helps with our hard water build up and soap scum better than anything else.
The Jet Dry can be replaced with any rinse agent. We happened to have Jet Dry so that is what I used.
How to Use the DIY Shower Spray
After you take a shower, spray down the walls and curtain with the DIY daily shower spray. Before spraying, make sure to give it a good shake. This works best when the shower is given a good cleaning first. It will keep a clean shower clean, but without some scrubbing, it will not clean a dirty shower. Therefore, start with a clean shower for best results. This spray will help to keep things looking good between deep cleans.
The Trick to Simplicity
I love making this spray because it is inexpensive and easy to use. When I first started making it, I would run out and go for an extended period of time before refilling the bottle. This was because it was a pain to go find all of the measuring cups needed for my concoction. One day, I had a moment of clarity. I poured in the alcohol and use a permanent marker to mark how far up the bottle it was. Then I did the same with the peroxide, followed by the dish soap, and Jet Dry. Following that ingenious discovery, I no longer had to measure anything. It was right on the bottle! Now I just collect the ingredients and start pouring.

Essential Oils Use the code MORGANSFARMHOUSE10 for 10% off your first order
Sarah says
I recently had a local tile cleaner deep clean my shower and bathroom floors and they commented that I could switch over to natural cleaners since all the storebought ones I use leave residue buildup. So, I’m excited to try this cleaner out and see how it compares. Could I use lavender essential oil in the recipe instead of tea tree oil?
Amy says
What size spray bottle do you use?
morgansfarmhouse says
Honestly, I have no idea because it was a recycled bottle. A 24oz bottle would be my best guess.

Would love to try this. Could you answer the question above from Sarah about using a different oil than tea tree oil? Why tea tree oil? Does it add to the effectiveness of the mixture? or is it for scent?
I also only have lavender oil as that is the scent I prefer.
Can’t wait to try this.
morgansfarmhouse says
Tea tree has antimicrobial properties, which is what makes it great in the bathroom. Lavender has antibacterial properties and can be used instead.
