Are you struggling to make the switch to natural deodorant? If you are struggling with your new body odor try out an armpit detox mask. A quick little detox will help an all natural deodorant work better and get rid of the toxins left behind from using traditional deodorant.

In With the Good

A couple years ago, I started to question the ingredients in everything. It started with body products, then cleaners, and now food. So consider this a warning, once you start you can’t stop.

Ok, now that you’re ready to take a step down this slippery slope let’s talk about my decision to take the first step. It all started with reading the back of the shampoo bottle. I discovered lots of ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. After some Google searches, I found out that most of them were really bad for you. The spark of curiosity caught hold and there was no turning back. I have always been one to question things and research them until I am blue in the face. When I find a problem, I must also find a solution. Pretty soon I was buying essential oils and castile soaps. When I ran out of my normal products, I would replace them with all-natural products that I made myself.

After that, there was no stopping me. I made my husband crazy reading all the labels. I replaced the toilet bowl cleaner, dusting spray, mouthwash, lotion, and bug spray. When I bought anything at the store, I would stand there reading the labels for twenty minutes before making a decision. He was patient, but sometimes I thought he wanted to throw something in the cart and move on.

Some of the changes were more difficult than others, but they eventually became the new normal. For example, castile soap makes my skin feel weird. At first it really bothered me, but now I barely notice. Another example was the smell of clean laundry. I love the smell of clean laundry, so I found an essential oil blend to use on the wool dryer balls to replace that smell. I still have a few things left to replace, but over time I’ve slowly learned how to clean without toxic chemicals.

About the Armpit Detox Mask

Bentonite clay

Bentonite clay comes from volcanic ash. It is packed with vitamins and minerals that are good for your skin. When bentonite clay is applied to the skin it acts like a sponge and absorbs the toxins, chemicals, and heavy metals. All of these can be found in traditional deodorant. When switching to a natural deodorant it is important to get rid of the yucky stuff left behind from the other stuff. In fact, it is even more important if you are still using traditional deodorant that you provide your armpits with a little armpit detox mask.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Is a very popular all natural health ingredient. It is good for making bone broth, washing your hair, cleaning, and detoxing your armpits. The apple cider vinegar in the armpit detox mask helps exfoliate the skin, remove dead skin, and tighten the pores.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon bentonite clay

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

In a small container, mix together equal parts of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar. I find a tablespoon of each to be plenty for both armpits. The mixture should not be watery, but more like toothpaste if not slightly thicker.

Using the Armpit Detox Mask

After mixing up the armpit detox mask, apply a generous amount to each armpit. Allow it to sit for at least five minutes. Although it shouldn’t, if it burns or stings rinse it off sooner. After allowing it to sit on your armpits, rinse it off with warm water. I like to do the detox right before showering, so that I can rinse it off in there. It works well and keeps the mess contained. I suggest doing this at least once a week. If you are using traditional deodorant or making the switch to natural you may find it beneficial to apply more often. I needed to detox a couple times a week while making the switch.
