Christmas is quickly approaching. Are you ready to stuff some stockings? Get ready with these stocking stuffers for homesteaders. These ideas will work for both young and old on the nice list. Go ahead and pass this list on to Santa this year.

The Stockings Were Hung by the Chimney with Care

When I was a baby, my mom made me a stocking. It has remained my stocking through all of these years. When we lived in houses with fireplaces she would carefully hang it up on Christmas Eve. There’ve been houses without a mantel for the stockings, but she always found some way to hang up the stockings.

I love the look of stockings hanging on the mantel, so I leave them hanging up all season long. My favorite color is red and my husband’s is green, so together we make Christmas colors. I hang up his green stocking and my red one by the fireplace and people just assume the colors are for Christmas.

Stocking Stuffers for Kid Homesteaders

Headlamp

Kids love flashlights. Headlamps make the gift extra fun because they can be worn. These are perfect for early morning or late night chores, hide and seek, and camping trips. If they look closely they might even be able to see spider eyes reflecting back at them from the grass.

Garden Gloves

Kids love to help in the garden. Give them their own garden gloves. They will be great for stacking wood in the winter and digging up potatoes in the summer. Or even just for the childhood delicacy called a mud pie.

Hand Warmers

These homemade hand warmers make cold morning chores a little more bearable. They can be tucked in pockets to keep those little fingers warm. They are also reusable and a great way to use up scrap fabric.

Toy Animals

When the snow is deep and the wind is cold, bring the farm inside with some toy animals. This could be Bryer horses or the Schleich animals. Toy animals allow for imaginative play away from a screen.

Beef Jerky

Kids enjoy a special snack once in a while. Beef jerky is always a treat that isn’t filled with sugar. This could be homemade or store bought. I like to hit up the dollar store to find small packages.

Toy Tractors

My husband is living proof that toy tractors are perfect for boys of any age. He spent many hours “farming” in the basement as a little boy. He now plays tractors with our cat Joe. Go for the nice metal ones so that they last.

Water Bottle

Everybody needs a good metal water bottle. Invest in one to keep the water cold. You could use vinyl to personalize a plain bottle if you wish. Plus then you won’t have 30 cups to wash at the end of the day.

Socks

Fun socks are always a good stocking stuffer idea for homesteaders. Kids tend to wear holes in them or lose one much faster than seems humanly possible. Fun socks, wool socks, boot socks, toe socks.

Cooling Neck Towel

During the hot summer days kids will appreciate a cooling neck towel. This will encourage them to play outside longer and are perfect during chore time. Plus these are just fun.

Bounce Back Ball

Did you ever long to play catch, but had nobody to play with as a kid? Problem solved. Send the kids outside with a bounce back ball. Great toy for any farm kid to carry around in the pocket of their overalls.

Stocking Stuffers for Women Homesteaders

Garden Gloves

Garden gloves are like socks. One always seems to wander off and the other has a hole in the tip. Bonus points if they are leather work gloves. Double bonus if they are insulated for winter chores.

Fermenting Lids

These fermenting lids are a wonderful luxury. They allow the jar to release air instead of being burped each day. That means the risk of explosion goes down too. Air comes out, but not in. Any avid fermenter will appreciate them.

Foot Soak

I’m a sucker for homemade gifts and this foot soak is one of my favorites for women. It’s a bit of the spa at home after a long day on your feet in the kitchen. What woman wouldn’t appreciate that?

Tea

Warm drinks are perfect for the cold weather. My favorite is Nutcracker Sweet, although we simply refer to it as Christmas tea. It smells exactly how I think Santa’s house might smell.

Chapstick

Every woman needs more chapstick. They always get lost or left behind. I know I keep one in my pocket, in the car, and at work. That way if one gets away from me there’s another close by. I really like homemade Burt’s Bees. My favorite trick is to use Christmas duct tape as the label. It’s the perfect size and oh so easy.

Seeds

It may be cold and snowy now, but it will soon be time to start some seeds. How fun would a stocking full of seeds be. I like the ones from Baker’s Creek because they are nearby. You could include vegetable seeds, herb seeds, flower seeds, or all of them!

Aerogarden Pods

If your lady has an Aerogarden, stuff her stocking with Aerogarden pods. They aren’t cheap and make a wonderful way to enjoy fresh herbs all year long. Mine runs all winter.

Ornaments

It is tradition in my family to give an ornament that represents the year or that goes with their collection. Mine is horses/western and my husband’s is John Deere. This tradition means you always know of one gift each year, which makes shopping easier.

Ponytail Hat

Stocking caps are great unless your hair is up. Ponytail hats solve that problem! A warm stocking cap with a hole for your ponytail.

Essential Oil Inhalers

Any oily woman would love some essential oil inhalers. It’s like your own personal diffuse that can go anywhere. They work particularly well on sinus problems. A whiff of a eucalyptus inhaler and you can breathe again.

Stocking Stuffers for Men Homesteaders

Hot Chocolate Mix

Hot chocolate makes a great stocking stuffer for homesteaders because they are actually outside long enough to get cold. There are tons of flavors to choose from.

Leather Work Gloves

Just like garden gloves these seem to disappear. A nice pair of leather gloves is invaluable when staking wood for the winter.

Wallet

It seems cliche to get a man a wallet, but this one is serisously cool. My husband loves his. It is super compact and metal. It holds tons of cards without gettign bulky.

Battery Phone Charger

Whether camping, hunting, or just working outside this handy batttery phone charger is a life saver. We have several and charge them up for any long trips.

Working Hands Lotion Bar

Homemade gifts for men are often difficult to come up with. A working hands lotion bar is amazing! It takes care of cracked knuckles and dry skin almost overnight. My family requests them now.

Yeti Coffee Cup

Remember that hot chocolate? Keep it warm with a Yeti coffee cup. These things are to die for. I’m almost certain you could bury it in the snow and a day later the hot chocolate would still be warm. Or coffee if that’s more of his thing.

Stocking Cap Headlamp

It’s like a regular headlamp, but warmer. It is a stocking cap with a headlamp built in. It’s great for chore time, camping, hunting, or power outages. You may want to grab one of these for your stocking too.

Interior Car Wipes

Here is another homemade gift for the guys. Interior car wipes will keep his truck looking fine. I find them particulary useful when you accidentily get gasoline on the wheel. If kept in a mason jar, they will likely fit in a cup folder for convinience.

Tractor Spinner Knob

If your man has a tractor then he needs a spinner knob. That’s the politically correct name for a suicide knob I’m told. Try your local dealership for one that will fit the particular tractor.

Wireless Earbuds

I’m sure most people already have a pair of these, but if not they make great stocking stuffers. Wireless eabuds are convient to use becuase they use bluetooth, which means no wires to get stuck on the fence or yanked out of your ears.
