Last Minute Gift Ideas for Homesteaders

I am a self proclaimed homesteader wannabe. We recently moved out of the city limits and have a few acres. I’ve been longing for the day when I would walk outside and not see the neighbors. My homesteader heart is now longing for chickens, cows, a garden, and fruit trees. My husband continues to remind me to take things one step at a time. While I impatiently wait, I am reading books about all of the things I dream of doing. I am also mastering as many skills that I can in the kitchen and house. These last minute gift ideas for homesteaders are perfect for all of those dreamers like me or those already in the thick of it. Homesteader hearts will appreciate these gifts.

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Homesteaders in the Kitchen

Bowl Covers

Many homesteaders are looking to reduce disposable products and plastics. Bowl covers are a beautiful way to do both in the kitchen. You can find lots of patterns and sizes.

Fermentation Kit

This fermentation kit is perfect to help a beginner homesteader get started fermenting veggies. Although not necessary, these tools are nice to have.

Dehydrator

I use my dehydrator all summer to preserve herbs. They also make beautiful dried orange ornaments. It’s a must have for any homesteader.

Cast Iron Dinner Bell

My mom would ring the cast iron dinner bell when it was time to come inside each evening. It really adds to the country feeling of your home and it’s practical as well.

Danish Dough Whisk

This fancy little tool is unique and oh so handy. A Danish dough whisk makes it easier to mix up a dough by hand. Anybody that bakes will appreciate it.

Seed Spacing Guide

If the homesteader in your life enjoys gardening, a seed spacing guide is a very useful tool. It is used for square foot gardening. Mine comes in handy and gets lots of use.

Clyde’s Garden Planner

Although very inexpensive, a Clyde’s Garden Planner is an essential for any gardener. It slides to align with your frost dates and makes it really easy to know when to plant.

Indoor Greenhouse

Seed starting can be tricky business. An indoor greenhouse will help your homesteader get the seeds off on the right root. It keeps pets out of the seedling trays. Plus the lights and heating mats can be easily placed. I got mine under the Christmas tree one year.

Soil Blocker

This is another seed starting tool. Instead of purchasing tiny pellets, your homesteader can use a soil blocker to make their own instead. It will save them money in the upcoming growing season.

Harvest Apron

Pretty and practical. A harvest apron will keep clothing clean and carry all of the produce back inside. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed one of these. I end up filling my pockets with peas to take back inside.

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Homesteaders in the Barn

Muck Boots

Whether they actually muck out a barn or just have to get out to do chores in the mud, Muck boots are a homesteader’s best friend. They last forever too.

Egg Basket

For any of the chicken keepers, try an egg basket. They can use it to collect the eggs and store them on the counter.

Milking Pail

Homesteaders appreciate the practical gifts, so don’t shy away from them. If they are raising dairy animals then a milking pail will come in handy. Goats, sheep, and cows all need daily milking, so this last minute gift idea will get lots of use.

Carhartt Coat

Yet another practical gift on the list of last minute gift ideas for homesteaders. Nothing beats a Carhartt coat when it comes to wintertime on the homestead. No matter the color or style, the warmth will be appreciated.

Boot Scraper

All of the homestead wives will realize the beauty of this boot scraper. It will cut down on the mud, snow, and manure being tracked into the house.
