Why You Need a Red Tablecloth

I bet you didn’t realize that you only need one tablecloth for every holiday. There are so many great reasons why you need a red tablecloth. If you are looking to simplify your decorating, then you’ve got to pick yourself up a red tablecloth.

Jack of All Trades

When I got married all of the old ladies from church attended my bridal shower. One of them gave me a red tablecloth. When I opened it she told me that it was the only tablecloth I would ever need. Then she launched into how to decorate it for every holiday and season of the year. And now I am passing her wisdom onto you, because it turns out that she was right.

Why You Need a Red Tablecloth

Matches perfectly for the holidays.

Red can be used in so many holiday decorations. Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, and Christmas. If you really try, it can be used at Easter too since the red tulips are making their way up. One tablecloth for most of the holidays isn’t a bad way to go.

Works in every season.

In the winter, a red tablecloth brightens the room and makes the greenery pop. In the spring it pairs nicely with all of the fresh flowers. Then of course in the summer it can be patriotic or go with a watermelon theme. When fall rolls around red matches the color of the leaves.

Simplifies your decor.

If you only need one tablecloth then you don’t have to worry about storing one with each coming holiday and season. It’s one less thing that you have to think about, keep track of, and remember to get out when the time comes.

Decorating with a Red Tablecloth

Valentine’s Day

Obviously a red tablecloth will match any sort of Valentine’s decor. I like to pair it with some white roses in a mason jar. You could also fill a vase up with heart candies, add a little wooden sign, or even a little red truck. Often I’ll pair the red tablecloth with a tablesquare or wood slice. This helps make the centerpiece stand out.

Spring

This is the time of year when the flowers are poking through and of course no table is complete with a bouquet. Daffodils are normally the first one up in the spring. Their bright yellow color really pops on a red tablecloth. The red makes the house seem bright and fresh.

Memorial Day, Fourth of July, & Labor Day

You can put out the red, white, and blue for Memorial Day and leave it until Labor Day. This makes decorating really simple during the summer if you want it to be. You can add the little flags to bouquets or all by themselves in a vase.

Summer

If there was one reason why you need a red tablecloth, it would be to put it on your table during the summer. Something about it reminds me of picnics and cookouts. Since the flowers are in full force, you keep a pitcher full on the table. You could also go with a watermelon theme. I’ve seen lots of little red trucks with watermelons in the back and cute farmhouse signs with watermelons too.

Fall

Red matches the leaves in the fall. Some white or tan pumpkins and gourds make easy centerpieces. Sunflowers are my personal pick. As you can tell, fresh flowers are always my favorite.

Christmas

If you decorate with red for Christmas then of course the red tablecloth will match. Since flowers are no longer in season you can put a wreath on the table or a rosemary tree. But if you need some flower poinsettias are the obvious choice. Once again, that little red truck can have a place on the table.

Winter

Having a red tablecloth during those cloudy, dreary days just makes the home feel happy and bright. You can leave any greenery up from Chrismtas. Pine and eucalyptus both bring some life into the dead of winter.
