We Get to go to Menard’s!
It is no secret that I love a good Menard’s trip. It usually starts with me asking my husband to build something for the house or yard. He plans it all out and gets a pickup order ready. We pick a weekend and make the hour drive. As we pull around back to get lumber, he reminds me that this is a pick up only trip. I laugh and come up with something I need to look at inside. Several hundred dollars later, with a cart full of things we didn’t really need, it’s time to go home. It’s kind of our thing.

How to Build a DIY Farmhouse Pot Rack
Supplies
2 1x6x4
1 1x10x4
1 1x3x4
¾” screws
16 hooks
*Stain & Polyurethane optional
We got everything at Menards.
Instructions
- First you will cut your 1x3x4 board into two 7 inch long pieces with 45 degree angles on each end. These will be your support pieces.
- Next you should stain and apply polyurethane to all of the boards if you wish to do so. We have found this to be easier than applying it after building a piece.
- Then line up one 1x6x4 with the 1x10x4 to make a 90 degree corner. Screw the pieces together. This will be the shelf and top rack.
- After the corner is put together you will put a 7 inch 1×3 piece on each end. These will act as supports for the shelf, so you can store dutch ovens on top.
- Now it is time for the hooks. Measure 7 inches from the end of the 1×6 piece and place your first hook. Do the same on the other end. Place a hook every 5 inches. You should be able to fit 8 hooks on the board. Do the same on the other 1×6 piece. You’re finally done!
Hanging a DIY Farmhouse Pot Rack
Use 2 inch screws to hang the DIY farmhouse pot rack. You will want to screw it into studs to keep it from falling off the wall. Get somebody to help you get it placed and level before you start drilling.
We left a 21 inch gap between the bottom of the top rack and the top of the bottom one. This has left the perfect amount of space to hang pots and pans.
